Privacy Notice

This notice describes information handled when someone visits Palo Alto County Recent Arrests, uses a partner search box, or sends a message. It also explains the limited reasons for collection, the service providers that may receive data, and the choices available to users.

Information We Receive

A query entered into a search box is sent to the independent provider that powers that tool. We may receive contact messages and the details a sender chooses to include. Servers and analytics services can also record technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate region, and timestamps. Cookies or similar storage may remember preferences, support security, measure use, and help deliver or assess advertising.

How Information Is Used

Data may be used to operate and secure the site, answer messages about the site, repair errors, study traffic, improve navigation, prevent misuse, and understand whether content or advertising is useful. We do not use a visitor’s query to alter an official Palo Alto County jail, court, sheriff, IowaVINE, or Iowa Department of Corrections record.

Search and Advertising Partners

Third-party search providers receive queries submitted through their tools and apply their own privacy terms. Analytics vendors may process technical activity. Advertising networks can use cookies or similar technology to select, limit, or measure ads. These companies operate under their own notices, and their collection may differ from ours.

When Data May Be Shared

Information may be disclosed to search partners, hosting and security providers, analytics vendors, and advertising networks as needed for their services. It may also be supplied to law enforcement, a court, or another authority when a valid legal order or applicable law requires it. Data may be transferred as part of a sale, merger, or reorganization, subject to applicable obligations.

Links Beyond Our Control

Links may lead to the Palo Alto County Sheriff, Iowa Courts, IowaVINE, Iowa DOC, federal systems, local news, or other independent sites. Their privacy practices, availability, and records are not controlled here. Review the notice shown by each destination before submitting a name, document, payment detail, or other information.

Cookies and Browser Choices

Most browsers permit users to block or delete cookies. Doing so may prevent some search, preference, analytics, or advertising features from working as intended. Browser privacy signals are handled as required by applicable law and available technical support.

Security and Retention

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information, but no website, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Data is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, legal duties, dispute resolution, security, and enforcement. A specific retention period cannot be promised for data controlled by an outside provider.

Children

This service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly seek personal information from minors. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request review.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on the law that applies, a user may ask to know about, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal data we control, or may object to certain processing. We may need to verify the request and can deny or limit it where the law permits. These rights do not let us change a government record held under Iowa Code Chapter 22. Such requests must go to the record custodian.

Changes to This Notice

This privacy notice may be revised as services, vendors, or legal duties change. The updated text becomes effective when posted. Continued use after an update is subject to the revised notice.
